Matthias Settele

MATTHIAS SETTELE IS LEVERAGING HIS MORE THAN THREE DECADES OF EXPERIENCE AS A TV EXECUTIVE, WRITER AND JOURNALIST BY WORKING AS INTERNATIONAL CONSULTANT FOR STREAMING, TELEVISION, NEWS AND PRODUCTION.

Matthias Settele studied literature and history in Vienna and published three books. He started his career as a reporter at the public broadcaster ORF in Austria. This was followed by seven years at RTL Television in Cologne, Germany. He is also the founding CEO of SetTele Entertainment offering news, programming, and production consulting services in more than 20 markets across Europe for clients like Time Warner, RTL Group and MTG. He has held interim manager roles in Croatia, CEE and Scandinavia / Baltics. Matthias Settele was the General Director of TV Markiza, the leading TV Group in Slovakia, from 2013 to 2023.

Member of the Editorial Board of CME (since 2021) 
Matthias Settele is one of three members of the editorial board of CME, an international TV Group owned by PPF, which is operating in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria and Romania.  The CME Editorial Board is an independent expert group that supports the senior management of CME and the local news teams in CME countries in all topics related to news, current affairs, and informative formats. It ensures compliance with CME’s Editorial Guidelines, communicates with stakeholders, and supports local news teams that constantly strive to improve their editorial quality.

Member of the expert jury for the Austrian Film funds Fernsehfonds Austria (since 2007) 
Matthias Settele is member of a five expert jury consulting the management of the RTR GmbH on the awarding of subsidiaries for TV productions filmed in Austria. The jury members work without honorar and are appointed by the office of the Austrian prime minister for a term of three years.

1996-1999: Chief of staff for General Director of ORF and later CEO of RTL, Gerhard Zeiler 

Chief of staff for ORF General Director Gerhard Zeiler (May 1996 - September 1998) and continuing in the same role while his start as CEO of RTL Television in Cologne (from October1998)    Administration, correspondence, research, drafting key notes and presentations, budget planning and controlling, special projects etc.    


1991-1996: Journalist at Austrian pubcaster ORF in the local studio in Vienna 

TV- und Radio journalist, reporter, radio host, head of desk for daily local radio and TV news („Wien heute“, „Radio Wien Stadtjournale“), active participation on the relaunch of ORF Radio Vienna   


1986-1991: Student at the University of Vienna
